Welcome

Summertown Choral Society, founded in 1961, is a well-established mixed voice amateur choir with around 150 members. Based in North Oxford, its members are drawn from all over the city, and surrounding areas. We aim to encourage a friendly atmosphere in which everyone enjoys singing. There is no audition and we perform twice a year, in January and May. We always welcome new members, so if you would like to sing, do give us a try. The Society has been directed by Duncan Saunderson since 1996. Much of his insight has been gained as a singing teacher as well as by having sung professionally under some of the finest choral conductors in the country. Next Concert...Our next concert will take palace at St Margaret's Church, North Oxford on Saturday 31st January 2009 where we will be performing Brahms's popular Ein Deutsches Requiem and Schubert's The Lord is my shepherd. Further details of this, and other forthcoming concerts may be found here.
Previous Concert...Our previous concert, held at St Andrews Church in Oxford on 17 May, celebrated spring with a range of seasonally-inspired pieces: including Spring from Haydn's The Seasons and Britten's Five Flower Songs. You can download samples of this - and earlier concerts - from our concert history pages.
