Come And Join Us!
Summertown Choral Society gives two concerts a year, generally in January/February and May/June, usually in St Andrew’s Church, North Oxford. The year consists of two terms, and runs from early September to May or June, with short breaks for Christmas and Easter.
Joining SCS
All singers with or without experience are welcome. Fluent reading is not essential but stable intonation, blending with other singers and some preparation at home are important.
Although much of the music can be complex, SCS has a number of highly experienced singers and there is a wealth of resources online to listen to (recordings of works and sites aimed at learning notes) so your “journey” with a musical work can be extremely satisfying and enjoyable. The performance with professional soloists and orchestral players leaves a most wonderful and permanent memory!

If you would like, just come along and sing with us in a rehearsal before deciding whether you’d like to join.
We are currently rehearsing for our Summer Concert, when we will be performing Rossini Petite Messe Solennelle. Rossini was a fascinating man and witty bon viveur, and the Petite Messe Solennelle reflects his humour, his joie de vivre and his dramatic roots in opera. It will be great fun to sing, do join us.
